Ukraine: 10 Dead as Russian Strikes Pound Kyiv

Russia has launched massive missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities for the third consecutive day, marking the largest strikes since the full-scale invasion began. In Kyiv, a missile strike on a nine-story apartment block killed at least eight people, including a 12-year-old girl, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later confirming a total of 10 deaths in the capital. Twenty people remain missing, and over 30 were injured in the building alone. Across Ukraine, 180 structures were damaged, including 50 residential blocks, with additional casualties reported in Kharkiv and Odesa. The intensified bombardment follows Russia's rejection of a proposed ceasefire extension after World War II commemorations. Ukrainian officials stated that over 1,560 drones have been fired since Wednesday, though air defenses intercepted more than 93% of them. Internationally, leaders from Germany, France, and the EU condemned the attacks as evidence of Moscow choosing escalation over negotiation. Ukraine also urged the US and China to leverage their influence on Vladimir Putin to end the war, coinciding with high-level talks between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping in Beijing.
