TechIsrael Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled a new air defense system called 'Hypnosis,' designed to jam and spoof satellite navigation signals that guide aerial threats such as drone swarms. The system consists of an array of mobile stations placed around a defended area, working together to disrupt command-and-control signals of incoming threats. It is a soft-kill weapon intended to neutralize large numbers of drones simultaneously, particularly in situations where kinetic intercepts are impractical due to the volume of airborne objects. The unveiling comes amid heightened military tensions between the United States and Iran, as well as intensified missile and drone strikes between Russia and Ukraine. The technology leverages IAI's experience in navigation warfare (NAVWAR) and addresses the growing challenge of defending against drone swarms that can overwhelm traditional air defense networks.
