Iranian Cruise Missiles Destroy Amazon Data Center in Bahrain, IRGC Claims
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched cruise missiles against Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center in Bahrain, claiming to have destroyed the facility. The attack was in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes on an under-construction nuclear plant in Darkhovin, Iran. This is not the first strike on AWS sites in the region; multiple data centers were hit after the U.S. bombing campaign began, leading Amazon to place them in 'hard down' status from late March to early April. Amazon had already moved customer operations to unaffected sites, ensuring service continuity. The IRGC has also threatened other American tech firms like Microsoft, Apple, Google, and OpenAI's Stargate data center in Dubai.
