Iran Warns of 'Memorable Lesson' After Trump Rejects War-End Proposal

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has declared that Iran is prepared to deliver a "memorable lesson" to any aggressor following US President Donald Trump's rejection of Tehran's latest proposal to end the ongoing war. In a post on X, Qalibaf warned that wrong strategies yield wrong results and stated that Iran's armed forces are ready for "all options," promising to surprise opponents. The diplomatic setback occurred after Trump labeled Iran's response to a US peace initiative as "totally unacceptable." Tehran's proposal reportedly aimed at ending hostilities, lifting sanctions, and restoring maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. Tensions have remained high since February 28, when the US and Israel launched strikes against Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate against Israel and US Gulf allies while closing the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Although a ceasefire mediated by Pakistan took effect on April 8, subsequent talks in Islamabad failed to secure a lasting agreement. President Trump later extended the truce without a set deadline but continues to criticize Tehran's diplomatic efforts, describing the current ceasefire as being on "massive life support."
