EU Ambassadors to Discuss Israeli Settlement Trade Ban, Russia Sanctions Impasse
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has asked EU ambassadors to provide their views on whether the bloc should ban trade with illegal Israeli settlements, though no formal proposal has been tabled due to Commission delays. The meeting could reveal majority positions after an inconclusive foreign ministers meeting last week. The Commission is expected to present an economic impact assessment. Additionally, the EU will accept new US tariffs on goods allegedly produced using forced labor if Washington caps duties at 15%. UN development chief Alexander De Croo warned that shrinking EU aid programs undermines strategic priorities.
