Iran and Oman held talks on Tuesday regarding a proposal to establish a jointly managed shipping route through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, along with a joint mine-clearing mission in the key oil export corridor. Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi met with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi in Tehran to discuss the future management of the strait. The proposed framework includes a temporary joint navigational corridor and an agreement to clear mines from the waterway. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments, and the discussions signal potential cooperation between the two neighboring countries on maritime security.
