Rafael delivers 1,000th TYPHOON naval weapon station, in service with 25 navies

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, an Israeli state-owned defense contractor, announced the delivery of its 1,000th TYPHOON naval weapon station, a remotely operated gun mount now in service with 25 navies worldwide, including the United States, Canada, and Australia. The system allows operators to engage threats like small boats and drones from a console inside the ship, using stabilized mounts and electro-optical sensors. Rafael recently delivered additional TYPHOON Mk-30c systems to the Israeli Navy's Sa'ar 6 corvette fleet, with more planned. The system has proven adaptable to evolving threats, including drones, and supports advanced munitions like Air Burst Munition rounds. The US Navy fields it as the Mk 38 Mod 2. TYPHOON has been operational since 2000 and remains relevant due to its ability to counter fast, low-signature threats in contested waters like the Red Sea.
