Israel Aerospace Industries unveils HYPNOSIS navigation warfare system to counter drone swarms

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled HYPNOSIS, a navigation warfare system designed to counter large numbers of drones and other satellite-guided aerial threats. Instead of physically shooting down targets, HYPNOSIS uses jamming and spoofing techniques to disrupt the GNSS signals (including GPS) that drones rely on for navigation. The system consists of a network of mobile jamming and spoofing stations coordinated by a central command center that can operate autonomously. IAI markets HYPNOSIS as a 'soft-kill' solution that addresses the growing cost asymmetry of modern drone warfare, where cheap attack drones can force defenders to expend expensive interceptor missiles. The system is designed to complement existing hard-kill missile defenses, providing a cost-efficient additional protection layer against drone swarms attacking from multiple directions simultaneously.
