House Republicans unveiled a fiscal 2027 budget resolution on July 15, 2026, that would lay the groundwork for a reconciliation package of up to $95 billion. The bulk of the funding, up to $73 billion, is allocated for defense-related spending, primarily to finance the Iran war, with $60 billion directed to the House Armed Services Committee and $13 billion to the Intelligence Committee. An additional $12 billion is designated for farm aid, and $10 billion for election security measures based on the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote and photo ID at the polls. The proposal falls far short of President Trump's requested $350 billion reconciliation package to support a $1.5 trillion defense budget.
