Six U.S. lawmakers buy SpaceX stock post-IPO, raising ethics concerns
Within days of SpaceX’s June 12, 2026 IPO, six U.S. House members or their spouses purchased between $83,000 and $480,000 in shares. Five serve on committees overseeing defense, satellite communications, or federal contracting—areas tied to SpaceX’s business. While legal and managed by outside advisers, the trades have drawn ethics scrutiny, especially as the House recently passed the Stop Insider Trading Act to ban such purchases. SpaceX stock has since declined.
