Slain Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s jail diary sells like hot cakes in this year’s Kashmir book festival
At the Chinar Book Festival in Srinagar, Kashmir, the jail diary of slain Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, titled 'Cell No. 14', is selling rapidly. The ongoing war between Iran and the U.S. has driven reader interest in Iranian spiritual leadership. The autobiography details Khamenei's suffering under the Shah regime and provides context to modern Iran. The festival, organized by the National Book Trust, sees over 200 publishers and 20,000 daily visitors. Both Shia and Sunni readers, as well as local politicians and bureaucrats, are purchasing the book. The event is under police surveillance to prevent display of anti-India or pro-separatist material.
