Russian Oil Supplies to India Hit 2 Million bpd in March, OPEC Reports

According to a recent report by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Russia remained the largest supplier of oil to India in March 2026, with exports reaching 2 million barrels per day (bpd). This volume represents the highest level of supply since June 2025 and was facilitated by the partial easing of United States sanctions. Despite this increase in Russian imports, India's total oil imports declined compared to February, averaging 4.49 million bpd for the month. Saudi Arabia ranked as the second-largest supplier to India with 606,000 bpd, followed by Angola at 330,000 bpd. The report also highlighted trends in China, where total oil imports fell sharply from 12.51 million bpd in February to 11.76 million bpd in March. Russia continued to be the primary supplier to China, accounting for 20% of its total imports, while Saudi Arabia and Malaysia provided 12% and 11% respectively. These figures underscore the shifting dynamics in global energy trade and the enduring role of Russian energy exports in Asian markets amidst evolving geopolitical sanctions and demand fluctuations.
