Lebanese Father Describes 'Hell' After Losing Six Family Members in Israeli Strike

Faris Ferhat, a Lebanese man from Arabsalim in southern Lebanon, recounted the traumatic loss of his two sons, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren following an Israeli air strike on May 13. The attack occurred despite a ceasefire agreement that had been extended by US President Donald Trump. Ferhat survived because he was outside watering seedlings when Israeli warplanes targeted his home, which was completely destroyed. He described searching through debris in pitch darkness, initially mistaking his grandchild's body for a toy. One grandson died at the scene, while another was seriously injured and hospitalized in Beirut. Ferhat stated he 'saw hell with his own eyes,' emphasizing the indescribable pain and lasting psychological impact of the event. This incident highlights ongoing violence in the region, where the Lebanese government reports over 1 million displaced persons and approximately 2,900 deaths since March 2. Despite diplomatic efforts to maintain peace, Israeli attacks and Hezbollah retaliations continue, violating the temporary truce and causing further civilian casualties and destruction in southern Lebanon.
