Eurovision Finalists Confirmed: Romania's Controversial Entry Advances in Vienna

The finalists for the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna have been finalized following the second semi-final. Ten additional candidates qualified for Saturday's grand show, including Romanian singer Alexandra Capitanescu with her controversial track "Choke Me." The song sparked prior debate regarding its lyrical content, though Capitanescu has denied accusations that it trivializes sexual risks. Australian artist Delta Goodrem also advanced with her power ballad "Eclipse," joining other qualifiers from Denmark, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Norway, Malta, Cyprus, Albania, and the Czech Republic. Top favorites from Finland and Greece had previously secured their spots in the first semi-final. As host nation, Austria’s representative Cosmó automatically qualifies, while France’s Monroe performed out of competition due to the country's status as a major European Broadcasting Union member. Germany’s Sarah Engels is also set to perform. The event faces external tensions, with five countries boycotting the contest in protest against Israel's participation amid the Gaza conflict. Pro-Palestinian demonstrations are anticipated in Vienna during the final weekend.
