BRICS Delegation Tours GIFT City Infrastructure Amid India's 2026 Chairship
Representatives from the BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues (CGETI) visited GIFT City in Gandhinagar, India, to inspect its infrastructure and financial capabilities. The delegation included members from Brazil, Egypt, Russia, China, South Africa, Indonesia, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates. This visit is particularly significant as India holds the BRICS Chairship for 2026 and is preparing to host the 18th BRICS Summit. During the tour, officials from GIFT City and the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) presented details on the city's regulatory framework, business environment, and opportunities in sectors such as banking, fintech, and insurance. Sanjay Kaul, Managing Director and Group CEO of GIFT City, highlighted the site's emergence as a global financial hub and emphasized the importance of exchanging perspectives on cross-border investments and sustainable finance. The visit aimed to showcase GIFT City as a gateway for international financial services and foreign currency transactions within India, strengthening economic cooperation among BRICS nations.
