On September 18, BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. and BYD Auto Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) for certain domestically produced vehicles. The recall is due to a manufacturing issue causing batch abnormalities in the material of the brake pedal limit stoppers. Prolonged use may lead to cracking or damage, and in extreme cases, the stopper may detach, causing brake lights to remain illuminated when the pedal is not depressed, posing a safety hazard by sending incorrect signals to following vehicles. BYD will authorize dealerships to replace the affected limit stoppers with improved parts free of charge. Some vehicles already fitted with improved stoppers prior to the recall do not require replacement. The recall is conducted under China's defective motor vehicle recall regulations.
