Chinese humanoid robot runs 100m in 9.39s, beats Bolt's world record

At the opening of the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, Chinese humanoid robots outperformed human world record holders in multiple track and field events. A robot from Beijing's X-Humanoid ran the 100-meter sprint in 9.39 seconds, beating Usain Bolt's 9.58-second record. Another covered 400 meters in 38.15 seconds, smashing Wayde van Niekerk's 43.03-second record. A third robot reached 2.88 meters in the standing high jump, surpassing Javier Sotomayor's 2.45-meter record. The five-day event features over 2,000 humanoid robots competing in 30 sporting events including soccer, table tennis, and boxing, as well as 21 scenario-based contests such as EV charging, restaurant work, and industrial assembly. While China produces the majority of the world's humanoid robots, they are still primarily used for demonstrations and research. The robots showed sharp improvement over last year, though braking remained an issue as they slammed into mats after the finish line.
