ConflictAccording to the Wall Street Journal, citing a US official, Israeli intelligence warned that Iran planned to shoot down President Donald Trump's aircraft using man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) during a NATO summit in Ankara. In response, Trump was secretly moved from Air Force One via a catering truck to a military aircraft before departure. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other high-ranking officials remained on the presidential plane, which was not attacked. The WSJ had previously reported in July that Israeli intelligence foiled a potential assassination plot against Trump, though details were scarce. Trump had denied those earlier reports but acknowledged being Iran's top target. The threat follows repeated Iranian vows to assassinate Trump, notably at the funeral of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as retaliation for the Supreme Leader's death in a US attack.
