House Oversight Democrats probe Pentagon changes to Iran war casualty database

Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform are investigating changes made to the Pentagon's official casualty database (DCAS) regarding U.S. soldiers killed in operations related to Iran. In a letter to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, ranking member Robert Garcia and Rep. Suhas Subramanyam demanded records explaining why four soldiers initially listed as Iran war casualties were removed and later reclassified under a new 'Overseas Operations' category. The new category's start date coincides with the Trump administration's renewed military operations against Iran. The lawmakers seek policies, legal analyses, and a complete record of all database changes, accusing the Pentagon of hiding the true cost of what they call 'Trump's war of choice' in Iran. The Pentagon declined to comment. The investigation follows a separate Senate inquiry focused on force protection and medical care after a March 1 attack in Kuwait.
