ConflictRafael Advanced Defense Systems has delivered the 1,000th TYPHOON Mk-30c stabilised naval remote-controlled weapon station to the Israeli Navy. The system, in operational service for over 25 years, is intended to further arm Israeli Sa'ar 6 corvettes and is also used by 25 other navies worldwide, including the United States. The TYPHOON system is designed to counter small, fast threats with low radar signatures, including surface and aerial targets such as unmanned aerial vehicles. It features high-capacity ammunition magazines for continuous engagement, rapid switching between ammunition types, and automated functions to reduce reaction times and operator workload. The system is fed with advanced programmable (ABM) and high-explosive proximity-fused (HEP) rounds to enhance effectiveness against both aerial and surface threats.
