ConflictIn a massive overnight attack, Russia struck Ukraine with dozens of missiles, cruise missiles, and hundreds of drones, hitting cities as far west as the border region. At least eight people were killed, including two children aged 5 and 12 in Kryvyi Rih, and more than a dozen were injured. Fires broke out in residential blocks in Lviv near the Polish border, and buildings were hit in Kyiv. Poland scrambled fighter jets as a precautionary measure. President Zelenskyy had warned of the imminent attack and again called on Western partners for more air defense systems, particularly Patriot systems. Separately, Ukraine attacked the Russian online retailer Wildberries with drones, setting a large warehouse in Penza on fire and injuring at least one person.
