Saab wins SEK 8.7 bln deal to equip four German Navy frigates with combat systems

Saab has secured a major contract worth approximately SEK 8.7 billion to deliver and integrate combat systems, sensors, and composite structures for four new MEKO A-200 DEU class frigates for the German Navy. The contract was signed with TKMS, the prime contractor, and deliveries are scheduled between 2029 and 2032. Saab will provide its 9LV combat system, including fire control and combat management systems, along with Sea Giraffe 4A and 1X surveillance radars and passive sensors. The deal includes an option for additional ships. Saab CEO Micael Johansson highlighted the strengthening of German naval capabilities in anti-air, anti-submarine, and anti-surface warfare. The frigates are part of Germany's naval expansion following increased defense spending after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
