Source report
Las Vegas – The countdown is underway. In seven days, the final of the $10,000 Main Event at the World Series of Poker will begin. Over three days, a new world champion will be crowned. The winner will receive not only a diamond-encrusted gold bracelet but also an astonishing $10 million prize — the dream of every poker player: becoming a multimillionaire overnight.
For the first time, German fans can watch all the action live on television.
TV Hit for All Poker Fans
The sports channel Eurosport will broadcast all three days of the Main Event live. The action kicks off on the night of August 3rd to 4th, from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. (CET). This marks the first time poker has been broadcast live on German TV. While poker has been shown on television in the past, it was never as a live event — until now. Commentary will be provided by Michael Körner from Munich.
German Hopes Dashed
From a German perspective, the final table will be less spectacular than in previous years. After three German world champions — Pius Heinz (2011), Hossein Ensan (2019), and Koray Aldemir (2021) — no further title will be added this year.
It had looked promising for a long time. Ensan reached the final two tables but was unfortunately eliminated in 13th place. Fellow countryman Tolga Karakaya made it to 11th place — two outstanding performances. It is all the more bitter to fall short so close to the ultimate goal.
The Final Nine Players
Nine players, however, have fulfilled their dream. Each is already guaranteed $1 million. The final table lineup:
- Lucas Jumalon (USA)
- Rami Hammoud (Canada)
- Jamie Shaevel (USA)
- Greg Mueller (Canada)
- Michael Gagliano (USA)
- Mario Boos (France)
- Lauri Saaskilahti (Finland)
- Han Feng (USA)
- Evagoras Evagorou (Cyprus)
