Canada orders 190 armoured combat support vehicles from GDLS-Canada in $1.4B deal

Canada will expand its Armoured Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV) fleet by ordering 190 new units from General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada, as announced by Prime Minister Mark Carney on 16 July 2026. The C$2 billion ($1.4 billion) investment over four years will increase the Canadian Armed Forces' ACSV inventory from 360 to 550 vehicles. The vehicles will be designed, engineered, and assembled at GDLS-Canada's facility in London, Ontario, creating or sustaining over 6,000 jobs annually across more than 600 suppliers in over 100 communities. Key subcontractors include InterPro, Thales Canada, and IMP Aerospace & Defence. GDLS-Canada becomes the first Strategic Partner under Canada's new Defence Industrial Strategy, committing to local R&D, hiring, and supply chain growth in exchange for accelerated approvals and export support. The procurement aims to help Canada meet NATO's 2% defence spending benchmark for the first time since the early 1990s.
