Lockheed Martin unveils Morfius X-Rotor counter-drone system, can neutralize over 50 enemy drones per flight

At the 2026 Farnborough Airshow in London, Lockheed Martin introduced the Morfius X-Rotor, a ground-launched, recoverable counter-drone system that uses high-power microwave (HPM) technology to neutralize over 50 enemy drones in a single flight. The system is designed to be reused and can integrate with any command and control system without requiring unique sensors or fire control radars. Lockheed Martin is accelerating prototype production to get the system to frontline troops. The Morfius has been flight-tested in Arizona, California, and Oklahoma, demonstrating interception and lethal capabilities. The announcement comes as the U.S. seeks cost-effective alternatives to expensive interceptors, particularly in light of recent conflicts where interceptor stockpiles were rapidly depleted against cheaper munitions like Iranian missiles and Shahed drones. The company also introduced a cheaper Patriot interceptor as part of this cost-reduction effort.
