Icelandic handball player Benedikt Oskarsson (23) suffered a severe holiday accident when he was hit in the head by a golf ball. The playmaker, who recently joined Danish club TTH Holstebro, lost all strength in his right hand due to the impact and spent four days in the hospital. Sports have seen some of the most absurd injuries, but what happened to Icelandic handball pro Benedikt Oskarsson (23) on vacation is truly one of a kind.
The playmaker was not seriously injured in training or a match, but during his leisure time on holiday. His new club, TTH Holstebro (Denmark), which he joined in July, will have to do without the brother of Arnor Snaer Oskarsson (formerly of Rhein-Neckar Löwen, among others) for the time being, as the holiday accident had severe consequences.

Oskarsson's new club officially announced his absence:
"Due to the impact, Benedikt lost all strength in his right hand and had to spend four days in the hospital. It is not yet known when he will be able to resume training with TTH Holstebro."
Oskarsson commented to the portal handkastid.net:
"The doctors couldn't say for sure whether the strength in his hand would return, but in recent days they have been very satisfied with the results and the progress of the recovery process."
The injured player added:
"Last week I started brain rehabilitation, with the goal of activating the brain and hand together. I have strength in my fingers and everything is going according to plan, even though I can't yet see immediate progress in rotating the ball. I've started cycling and am trying to put a bit more strain on my body."
In addition to a skull injury, the accident is also said to have caused a brain hemorrhage. This points to a so-called subdural hematoma, one of the symptoms of which includes sudden onset of paralysis.
Benedikt Oskarsson only moved from Norwegian club Kolstad IL to Holstebro this summer. In Norway, he celebrated two championship titles and one cup victory.
