Icelandic Handball Player Benedikt Oskarsson Hit in Head by Golf Ball, Suffers Paralysis

Icelandic handball player Benedikt Oskarsson (23) suffered a severe holiday accident when he was hit in the head by a golf ball. The playmaker, who recently joined Danish club TTH Holstebro, lost all strength in his right hand due to the impact and spent four days in the hospital. The injury also caused a skull injury and a brain hemorrhage, likely a subdural hematoma, which can cause sudden paralysis. Oskarsson has started brain rehabilitation to reactivate the connection between his brain and hand. While doctors are satisfied with his progress, it remains unclear when he will be able to resume training. He previously played for Norwegian club Kolstad IL, winning two championship titles and one cup victory.
