Canada orders 190 armoured combat support vehicles from GDLS-Canada in $1.4 bln deal

Canada will expand its Armoured Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV) fleet by ordering 190 new units from General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada, in a deal worth nearly C$2 billion ($1.4 billion) over four years. Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the strategic partnership on July 16, 2026, under Canada's new Defence Industrial Strategy. The vehicles will be built at GDLS-Canada's facility in London, Ontario, and are designed to protect against mines, IEDs, and enemy fire. The project is expected to create or sustain over 6,000 jobs annually for eight years, involving more than 600 suppliers across 100 communities. Key subcontractors include InterPro, Thales Canada, and IMP Aerospace & Defence. The procurement increases Canada's ACSV inventory from 360 to 550 vehicles and supports Canada's goal of meeting NATO's 2% defence spending benchmark for the first time since the early 1990s.
