Barcelona's Adeyemi signing delayed to next week; player met Flick and teammates

Hupu, July 17th — According to a report by Jordi Batalla from World Sports, Adeyemi has not yet officially become a Barcelona player, and the announcement of his transfer may be delayed until next week.

Previously, the official announcement of Adeyemi's move to Barcelona was expected to be released this Friday, as both parties had already exchanged contract documents, and his agent had made some modifications to parts of the contract. However, it now appears that the signing is likely to be officially announced next week. By then, Barcelona president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco will have returned to Barcelona from the United States. The two are currently in the US and will attend the World Cup final on Sunday at 9 PM, which will be played between Spain and Argentina.

Adeyemi Visits Barcelona Facilities

Although the official signing has not yet been completed, Adeyemi did not waste time this Friday. He left his hotel early in the morning and visited the Barcelona Sports City in Sant Joan Despí for the first time.

The 24-year-old German winger will sign a contract with Barcelona until 2031, with a transfer fee of €22 million fixed plus €7 million in add-ons. Borussia Dortmund will also retain a 30% share of any future resale profit.

Since the contract has not yet been signed, Adeyemi cannot train with the team this Friday, but he has already met his future teammates and greeted Flick. Flick called Adeyemi up to the German national team in 2021 and gave him his debut, and now welcomed him to Barcelona. Additionally, Adeyemi embraced his fellow German, Ter Stegen. Ter Stegen is still in Barcelona, awaiting final approval to join Ajax on loan.

Barcelona Training Update

As for Barcelona's double training session this Friday, Xavi Espart and Hafiz Gariba did not participate. The two had been training with the first team earlier this week. Xavi Espart was given a day off due to the high exertion from his participation in the U19 European Championship, and the club needs to manage his training load reasonably to avoid physical issues.

Fermín López has still not joined his teammates for group training and is continuing to receive specialized treatment. He previously fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot and is still in the recovery phase. De Jong also did not train and needs further examinations to determine the exact extent of his right knee injury.
