Leeds United agree £34.1m fee for Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic

Leeds United have agreed a £34.1 million fee with Italian club Sassuolo for Bosnia-Herzegovina international defender Tarik Muharemovic. The 23-year-old centre-back has yet to agree personal terms or complete a medical, with other Premier League clubs also interested. If he joins, he would be manager Daniel Farke's second summer signing after Harry Wilson's free transfer from Fulham, and would replace Pascal Struijk, who moved to Brighton for £20 million in June. Muharemovic made three appearances at the World Cup, including a match where US forward Folarin Balogun was sent off for fouling him (the suspension later waived after US President Donald Trump's intervention). Born in Slovenia, Muharemovic began his career at Wolfsberger in Austria, had a spell at Juventus without a first-team appearance, and was sold to Sassuolo in 2025. Juventus are reportedly entitled to 50% of the transfer fee due to a sell-on clause.
