US stock markets experienced a seesaw session on July 15, 2026, as semiconductor stocks sold off despite strong earnings from chip equipment maker ASML, which raised its annual sales forecast citing AI demand and announced a 30% production capacity increase. Memory makers Micron Technology and SK Hynix fell 10% and 13% respectively. Economic data showed wholesale inflation slowing more than expected in June, echoing a cooler CPI reading. This helped offset pressure from rising oil prices after President Trump threatened to intensify attacks on Iran. Major earnings reports included Morgan Stanley, BlackRock, Johnson & Johnson, and United Airlines Holdings. The Dow and S&P 500 hovered near flat, while the Nasdaq rose 0.1%.

U.S. stocks trimmed gains on Wednesday as chip stocks sold off, despite strong earnings from chip equipment maker ASML (ASML) and a softer-than-expected wholesale inflation reading.
- The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) and S&P 500 (^GSPC) hovered near the flat line.
- The Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) rose 0.1%, following gains from the previous day.
On Wednesday morning, ASML raised its annual sales forecast above Wall Street expectations, citing AI demand, and announced plans to increase its production capacity for chipmaking equipment by 30%. Despite this, chip stocks declined:
- Micron Technology (MU) fell 10%.
- SK Hynix (SKHY) dropped 13%.
On the economic data front, the Producer Price Index (PPI) showed that wholesale inflation slowed more quickly than expected in June, echoing cooler-than-expected Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, which showed the largest single-month decline in inflation since April 2020.
That helped offset pressure from rising oil prices, as President Trump said he would intensify attacks on Iran until the country relents. "We're going to knock out all of their bridges unless they get to the table and negotiate," Trump told Fox News on Tuesday, per Bloomberg.
Earnings season, meanwhile, continues to pick up. Notable reports include:
- Morgan Stanley (MS) — reported before the bell
- BlackRock (BLK) — reported before the bell
- Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) — reported before the bell
- United Airlines Holdings (UAL) — to report after the close of trading
