Ukrainian FM Sybiha Visits Moldova for Special Tribunal Launch

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha is visiting the Republic of Moldova on May 14–15 to attend the 135th ministerial session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Chișinău. The primary objective of the visit is to facilitate the legal launch of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine. More than thirty-five states are expected to approve the Enlarged Partial Agreement on the Management Committee, a crucial step in establishing the tribunal's operational framework. Additional decisions supporting Ukraine are anticipated from the Committee. Beyond the multilateral session, Sybiha will engage in bilateral talks with Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi and meet with various international counterparts and organization leaders. A significant part of the itinerary includes a historic visit to Bălți in northern Moldova, a region with a substantial Ukrainian population comprising approximately 30% of residents. This diplomatic mission underscores continued international efforts to hold aggressors accountable and strengthens regional ties between Ukraine and Moldova amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.
