Tamil Nadu signs MoUs for Global Capability Centres and University of Western Australia campus in Chennai
The Tamil Nadu government signed four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on July 30, 2026, to establish Global Capability Centres (GCCs), R&D centres, and a manufacturing facility in the state. Key agreements include Chubb (Switzerland) and Nordex (Germany) setting up GCCs in Chennai, creating 220 and 1,000 jobs respectively. The University of Western Australia will establish Tamil Nadu's first international university campus in Velachery, Chennai, with a ₹125 crore investment on 50,000 sq. ft., generating over 200 jobs. South Korean auto-components manufacturer MotiveLink will set up a ₹300 crore manufacturing facility at SIPCOT Pillaipakkam Industrial Park, creating 1,500 jobs. Together, these MoUs are expected to generate 2,920 direct and indirect jobs. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay oversaw the signing at the Guidance Tamil Nadu office.
