Seven Detroit Red Wings Players Compete in IIHF World Championships

Seven players from the Detroit Red Wings organization are participating in the IIHF Men's World Championships, currently held in Zurich and Fribourg, Switzerland. With the Red Wings missing the NHL playoffs for the tenth consecutive year, these athletes are representing their respective national teams instead. The roster includes Justin Faulk and prospect Max Plante for Team USA, Lucas Raymond and Albert Johansson for Sweden, Moritz Seider for Germany, and Cam Talbot and Emmitt Finnie for Canada. Notably, both Seider and Faulk have been named captains of their national squads. Faulk, recently acquired by Detroit, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to lead Team USA, while Seider highlighted the honor of representing a rapidly improving German program. Lucas Raymond, attending his fourth consecutive world championship, aims to build on his strong recent international performance. The tournament features 16 teams divided into two groups, with the top four from each advancing to the quarterfinals. Competition began on Friday and will conclude with the championship game on May 31, 2026.
