Sam Altman to meet with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles ahead of AI framework deadline
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told CNBC he will meet with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles in Washington, D.C., this week, as the Trump administration approaches an Aug. 1 deadline to develop a framework for evaluating AI models under a June executive order. Altman is meeting with senior Trump administration officials, lawmakers, and economists to discuss OpenAI's upcoming models, cybersecurity, and U.S. competitiveness in the global AI race. Separately, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is also on Capitol Hill to discuss open models and American AI leadership. Sen. Ted Cruz and several Senate Democrats met with Altman on Wednesday, focusing on maintaining U.S. AI competitiveness.
