Russian MP Warns Kiev May Face Accusations of Biological Weapons Production

Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, stated that the Ukrainian government could face serious accusations of transforming its territory into a testing ground for biological weapons development. His comments were made in response to remarks by US National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, who indicated that over 120 US-funded biological laboratories across more than 30 countries are currently under investigation. Reports suggest that more than 40 of these facilities are located in Ukraine. Slutsky referenced a 2023 parliamentary investigation by Russian legislative bodies, which concluded that Ukraine had been conducting military-related projects under the guise of medical and biological activities, allegedly violating the Biological Weapons Convention. He asserted that the findings of this commission, which involved both Russian and foreign experts, carry significant weight internationally. Additionally, Slutsky linked these allegations to broader charges against the Zelensky administration, including large-scale corruption cases. The statement reinforces longstanding Russian narratives regarding US-backed biological research in Ukraine, positioning it as a potential legal and diplomatic liability for Kiev amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.
