Private mission launches to extend life of out-of-gas communication satellites
A private mission has launched a robotic servicing satellite designed to extend the operational life of communication satellites that have run out of fuel. The mission, supported by NASA and executed by Northrop Grumman, involves the Mission Robotic Vehicle (MRV) and its Mission Extension Pod (MEP). Launched via a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, the spacecraft will operate in geosynchronous orbit, docking with aging satellites to provide propulsion and attitude control.
