Nike closes two more US stores as part of ongoing restructuring
Nike has closed two additional retail locations in Cary, North Carolina, and San Jose, California, as part of a broader national retail strategy and restructuring launched in April 2026. The Cary store, which opened in June 2022, closed weeks earlier than its expected July 31 date. Both stores posted 'Closed for the next 7 days' messages on Nike's website, with no confirmation of reopening. The closures are part of a larger restructuring that has also seen Nike discontinue its Nike Fitness Studios venture, close tech offices in three locations, and lay off about 1,400 employees (under 2% of its global workforce). Nike has not disclosed the total number of stores it plans to close. The company is consolidating operations into its Oregon headquarters and India Technology Center.
