Neo-Nazi Leader 'Commander Butcher' Sentenced to 15 Years for Plot to Poison Jewish Children
Michail Chkhikvishvili, a 22-year-old Georgian national and leader of the neo-Nazi extremist group Maniac Murder Cult, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison. Known online as 'Commander Butcher,' Chkhikvishvili pleaded guilty to soliciting hate crimes and distributing instructions for making bombs and ricin. The sentencing follows his extradition from Moldova to the United States. Federal authorities revealed that his plot evolved into a specific plan to poison Jewish children in Brooklyn on New Year’s Eve by distributing candy laced with toxins, attempting to recruit an individual to dress as Santa Claus for the attack. Prosecutors stated that Chkhikvishvili used Telegram and other platforms to incite violence against Jews and racial minorities, distributing a manifesto titled the 'Hater’s Handbook.' He is also linked to inciting attacks in Nashville in 2025 and Eskisehir, Turkey, in 2024. U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella Jr. described the defendant as a 'hate-mongering menace' who intended to kill children in minority communities. The New York City Police Department commissioner praised the collaborative effort of the NYPD, FBI, and federal prosecutors in holding the violent extremist accountable for his hateful crimes.
