NATO Standing Maritime Group One Warships Arrive on the River Clyde in Glasgow
A fleet of NATO warships from Standing Maritime Group One has arrived on the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland. The Canadian frigate HMCS Ville de Québec, currently serving as the group's flagship, berthed at King George V Dock alongside the Norwegian frigate HNoMS Fridtjof Nansen. The German fleet tanker FGS Rhöne arrived a day earlier. The Ville de Québec assumed flagship duties from the German frigate FGS Sachsen earlier this month and is operating under Operation Reassurance, Canada's contribution to NATO deterrence in Europe. The group, which also includes Dutch and Turkish frigates, will operate in the North Atlantic, North Sea, and Baltic until December. The visit is routine, with allied warships frequently calling at Glasgow and HM Naval Base Clyde at Faslane.
