The mission will involve a complex coordination of three separate spacecraft: NASA's Orion capsule, launched by the SLS rocket, will rendezvous and dock with pathfinder versions of both commercial landers in low Earth orbit. By moving the actual lunar surface landing to Artemis IV in 2028, NASA aims to ensure system reliability and crew safety.
