The move addresses growing geopolitical concerns regarding dependence on Chinese-dominated rare earth markets, aligning with initiatives like the Defense Production Act and Project Vault. SPD utilizes validated technologies to recover rare earths from domestic sources, such as legacy coal ash, and collaborates with key U.S. government bodies including the Departments of Energy and Defense.
