Jeff Bezos Reportedly Approached to Buy Stake in Liverpool FC
According to Sky News, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been approached to join an investor consortium led by Amit Bhatia, son-in-law of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, which is negotiating the acquisition of a minority stake in Liverpool FC. The consortium could acquire up to 30% of shares from current owner Fenway Sports Group, with the club valued at least $6 billion. Fenway Sports Group, which has owned Liverpool since 2010, confirmed receiving an expression of interest for a strategic investment. While nothing is finalized and Bezos has not made a final decision, discussions are reportedly well underway. A potential Bezos investment would underscore the growing influence of American investors in English football, as nearly half of Premier League clubs are already US-controlled. Neither party has confirmed Bezos's involvement, and his representatives did not immediately respond to Sky News inquiries.
