IRGC Releases Photos of Downed Polish Tiguar M Drone Allegedly Operated by US Army
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has published photos of the wreckage of a Polish-built Tiguar M drone, which it claims was shot down over southern Iran by the IRGC Ground Forces' 48th Fath Brigade in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province. The drone, a light-class tactical UAV designed by Polish company uAvionics, was allegedly operated by the U.S. Army. According to analyst Babak Taghvaee, the wreckage shows the drone was fitted with an improvised Starlink or Starshield terminal for beyond line-of-sight (BLOS) communication. The Tiguar M was previously tested by soldiers from the 1st US Special Forces Group during the Balikatan 2026 exercises in the Philippines, which focused on long-range communications in infrastructure-constrained environments. The incident marks a significant escalation in drone warfare and highlights the use of commercial satellite communication systems in military UAVs.
