13 Indian Seafarers Trapped Under Drone and Missile Attacks in Black Sea
The Forward Seamen’s Union of India (FSUI) reported on July 28, 2026, that the vessel M.V. AMIR1, docked at the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk with 15 crew members including 13 Indian nationals, is under heavy attack. Repeated drone and missile strikes are occurring in the vessel's vicinity, and the crew lives in constant fear of a direct hit. FSUI has urgently appealed to authorities, shipowners, the flag state, and the Government of India to secure the crew's safety and arrange immediate repatriation. Separately, search operations for two missing Indian seafarers from a previous attack on the Palau-flagged ship AGN RAGNAR on July 25 were called off due to continued attacks. The two men, Chandra Ram Dubey and Gupta Kumar Deepak, jumped overboard and remain missing, while the rest of the crew was evacuated by the Ukrainian Coast Guard.
