The Forward Seamen’s Union of India (FSUI) on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) reported that the vessel M.V. AMIR1, currently docked at the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk with 15 crew members on board—including 13 Indian seafarers—is trapped in a "terrible and life-threatening situation."
According to a post on X by FSUI:
- Repeated drone and missile attacks are being attempted in the immediate vicinity of the vessel.
- The crew is living under constant fear of a direct hit at any moment.
"We urgently appeal to all concerned authorities, shipowners, flag state, and the Government of India to immediately secure their safety and arrange prompt repatriation," FSUI said.
Search operations to locate missing crew members have been called off due to continued attacks.
Previous Incident
On July 25, the Palau-flagged general cargo ship AGN RAGNAR was reportedly attacked by three drones while exiting the Bystre Mouth of the Danube River into the Black Sea.
During the attack:
- Two Indian nationals—Mr. Chandra Ram Dubey (Ordinary Seaman) and Gupta Kumar Deepak (Ordinary Seaman)—jumped overboard and remain missing.
- The remaining seven crew members, including two other Indian nationals, and the pilot were safely evacuated ashore by the Ukrainian Coast Guard.
