On July 29, J1 club Chiba City Original officially announced the signing of former Qingdao West Coast Brazilian midfielder Matheus Pains. The 26-year-old has previously played for Portuguese Primeira Liga club Vitória Guimarães and Serbian club Vojvodina. He played for Qingdao West Coast from July 2024 to January 2025, making 41 appearances with 7 goals and 2 assists.
