Dara Khosrowshahi Says $14.8 Billion Delivery Hero Deal Will Double Uber's Mobility, Delivery Markets
Uber Technologies Inc. has agreed to acquire German food delivery platform Delivery Hero SE in a deal valued at $14.8 billion, paying €41.5 per share ($47.61). The acquisition will allow Uber to double the number of markets where it offers both mobility and delivery services, according to CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. As part of the deal, Delivery Hero will sell its Turkish platform Yemeksepeti and foodora in Austria and other markets to investment firm SSW Partners for approximately $1.6 billion, covering 14 markets where Uber Eats and Delivery Hero overlap. Uber has committed to no workforce changes at Delivery Hero's Germany headquarters until 2029 and plans a $2.3 billion investment in Germany over five years. The companies had previously paused operations in five European markets to address antitrust concerns.
