Uber Technologies Inc. has agreed to acquire German food delivery platform Delivery Hero SE in a deal valued at $14.8 billion, paying €41.5 per share ($47.61). The acquisition will allow Uber to double the number of markets where it offers both mobility and delivery services, according to CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. As part of the deal, Delivery Hero will sell its Turkish platform Yemeksepeti and foodora in Austria and other markets to investment firm SSW Partners for approximately $1.6 billion, covering 14 markets where Uber Eats and Delivery Hero overlap. Uber has committed to no workforce changes at Delivery Hero's Germany headquarters until 2029 and plans a $2.3 billion investment in Germany over five years. The companies had previously paused operations in five European markets to address antitrust concerns.

Ride-hailing giant Uber Technologies Inc. has reached an agreement to acquire German food delivery platform Delivery Hero SE in a deal valued at $14.8 billion.
Uber to Pay Over $47 Per Share
On Thursday, the company released an official statement confirming it will pay €41.5 per share ($47.61) as part of the agreement.
The deal will see Delivery Hero selling its Turkish food delivery platform Yemeksepeti, as well as foodora in markets including Austria, to SSW Partners, a New York-based investment firm. Other businesses are also being sold to the same firm.
"SSW will acquire Delivery Hero's businesses in a total of 14 markets, particularly where Uber Eats and Delivery Hero already overlap," the statement said, in a deal worth approximately $1.6 billion.
"Uber will not acquire control over the businesses transferred to SSW, and SSW will independently lead the process to find strategic partners," the company said.
Dara Khosrowshahi Weighs In
"Delivery Hero's talented team has built an extraordinary business, with beloved local brands and leading positions across many of the world's fastest-growing delivery markets," said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber.
He added that the deal would allow Uber to "double the number of markets" where the company offers both "mobility and delivery services."
Nicklas Ortberg, CEO of Delivery Hero, said the company was "excited" about the opportunity.
Uber also stated it will make no changes to the food delivery platform's workforce at its Germany headquarters until 2029 and has committed approximately $2.3 billion in investment into Germany over the next five years.
Background
Uber had acquired an additional stake in Delivery Hero earlier this year, while Delivery Hero confirmed in May that it had received a full takeover offer from the ride-hailing giant.
Uber had previously paused plans to roll out operations in five European markets where Delivery Hero was also present, in an effort to curb antitrust scrutiny. However, the companies continue to overlap in markets including Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden, according to a Financial Times report on Wednesday.

Building Wealth Across More Than Just the Market
Building a resilient portfolio means thinking beyond a single asset or market trend. Economic cycles shift, sectors rise and fall, and no one investment performs well in every environment. That's why many investors look to diversify with platforms that provide access to real estate, fixed-income opportunities, precious metals, and even self-directed retirement accounts. By spreading exposure across multiple asset classes, it becomes easier to manage risk, capture steady returns, and create long-term wealth that isn't tied to the fortunes of just one company or industry.
Arrived
Backed by Jeff Bezos, Arrived Homes makes real estate investing accessible with a low barrier to entry. Investors can buy fractional shares of single-family rentals and vacation homes starting with as little as $100.
