Chinese Modder Runs Nvidia RTX 4060 on Huawei Arm Workstation Using Modified RTX Spark Driver
A Chinese modder known as VoidTech has successfully gotten an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card working on a Huawei Qingyun W510 Arm-based workstation running Windows 11. The achievement was made possible by borrowing a graphics driver from Nvidia's upcoming RTX Spark, which runs Arm Windows. The setup used a Huawei Kunpeng 920 CPU (24 cores) and required a workaround for video output, as the driver lacked support for desktop GPU display encoders. VoidTech used the Sunshine/Moonlight game streaming solution to run the system headlessly. Performance was limited by the slow single-core performance of the Kunpeng CPU and x86 emulation overhead, resulting in low frame rates in games like Black Myth Wukong (21 FPS) and Genshin Impact (~25 FPS). The modder also faced issues with missing Windows drivers for the workstation's network controller and broken ACPI tables. The experiment demonstrates the potential for discrete GPU support on Arm Windows platforms.
